Nepomniachtchi, Bareev post wins, Le & Nguyen share lead @ Aeroflot Open 2010

Young Russian Grandmaster Ian Nepomniachtchi (3.0) defeated Chinese GM Zhou Weiqi in the fourth round of the Aeroflot Open 2010 at Moscow. Vietnamese GMs Le Quang Liem and Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son led the table with 3.5 points, followed by host of GMs at 3.0 points.

Leader Le Quang Liem survived some anxious moments against Bulgarian Grandmaster Ivan Cheparinov, but eventually managed to hold on in a double rook and minor piece ending. With Le’s king being fully exposed, the Vietnamese GM looked in danger, but steady defence coupled with exchange of attacking pieces in critical moments saved him the game.

Indian Grandmaster Krishnan Sasikiran (3.0) moved into shared third spot, following his hard fought victory over WGM Nadeszhda Kosintseva in 79 moves.

Also moving up to reach 3.0 points was Russian GM Evgeny Bareev who scored over WGM Tatiana Kosintseva in a double rook ending game that went on for 44 moves.
